| The chemical name of ABS is acrylonitrile butadiene styrene copolymer. The English name of ABS is Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene and acronymized ABS. It is an important common synthetic resin. Production methods mainly include emulsion graft polymerization, emulsion graft blending method and continuous mass polymerization methods. Emulsion graft process is an important part of ABS production. And it is a widely used by large plants in the world. The design and development of ABS pilot plant is the key to the development of new products for large ABS enterprises. It has an important effect on the upgrading of ABS products in China.According to the demand of pilot plant construction and the advanced technology, the paper designs the pilot plant of the emulsion grafting with the analysis data of an industrial plant. First of all, the mathematical model is established through the existing basic data. Material balance is carried out on the key equipment of the pilot plant. Inlet and outlet material composition, heat balance, the structure design of key equipment, agitator design and selections of pumps are carried out, too. The analysis of dangerous factors for pilot plant is also carried out, so that the design of the pilot plant has safety. Design results are as follows: Feeds for a 250L PB reactor includes the followings:1,3 butadiene:81.63kg; chemicals: 3.59kg; de-ionized water:65.47kg. Yield of each batch of polybutadiene latex:79.4kg. Feeds for a 250L G-ABS reactor includes the followings:polybutadiene latex:42.6kg; styrene: 32.8kg; acrylonitrile:13.62kg; chemicals:1.48kg; de-ionized water:109.1kg. Yield of each batch of G-ABS latex:82.78kg. Yield of each batch of G-ABS powder:32.251kg. PB reactor and G-ABS reactor have the same type, structure size and agitator type. They are all tank reactors. Cylinder diameter:550mm, cylinder height:900mm. Triple folding open turbine agitator. Each impeller has 4 blades. Ratio of impeller diameter and equipment diameter is 0.33. Impeller diameter is 200mm. The agitators are variable frequency ones with speed 80-230rpm. The power of PB reactor is 509.6W and that of G-ABS reactor is 741.18W. Theoretical knowledge and practical production are combined together through the design. It has important reference significance for the design of the same type of plants, especially for different size of ABS emulsion grafting pilots. |
