The performance of the tire has an important influence on driving safety.However, the tire will be confronted with complex and harsh road condition inevitably, as a result, defects such as wear process,scratches and fatigue cracks will appear easily in the tire.So it is very important to research flaws in the tire. The research on tire involves the geometrically non-linearity,the material non-linearity and the contact non-linearity,in addition, the tire is comprised of several materials and has complicated structures, as a result, the analysis of the tire is a very formidable task, so simplifying the model of the tire and finding a way to simulating the tire appropriately become essential and necessary.In this paper,AutoCAD and SolidWorks are used to build the geometry model of the 11.00R20 radial tire, then the geometry model is imported to ANSYS Workbench,and the finite element model of the tire is built in this software.In the process of building tire model,the geometrically non-linearity,the material non-linearity and the contact non-linearity are fully taken into consideration.When it comes to composite material,the ACP part,which is designed for analysing composite material component is used to built the mode of the tire. Finally the finite element model is built by assembling the rubber parts and composite material parts.The radial tire which has scratches and fatigue cracks is analysed by the finite element method.First, scratches are made in different locations of the tire, stress,strain and strain energy under the standard charge pressure and different load are obtained, the impact of different scratches on the tire is compared, impact and damage of scratches are concluded;then,based on multiscale finite element method, a submodel with semicircle crack is created in tire bead, based on mechanics of fracture, the impact on the J- integral and tearing energy of the crack in the tire bead is obtained under different charge pressure, based on tearing energy,the life of the tire which has the crack in the tire bead is calculated, the danger of excessive charge pressure to the tire life is concluded;finally, the crack in the tire shoulder is researched under different load,the submodel is created similarly,the study of shear stress and displacement shows that the' crack created in the shoulder belongs to the II crack,the tire life is calculated based on tearing energy,the development of tire shoulder crack and tire bead crack are compared, it is considered that the crack in tire shoulder develops faster than that in tire bead, but it is more likely to fail suddenly, based on the conclusion, the material adoption of the tire shoulder and tire bead is suggested.In this paper. Based on the finite element analysis and mechanics of fracture, the impact of different defects on the 11.00R20 radial tire is researched, the regularity is discussed, the research of this paper can offer some valuable guidances to the FEA of tire.
