From November 2012 to May 2013,by instantaneous and scan sampling methods,we studied the time budgets and space utilization of 4 Sichuan golden snub-nosed monkeys(Rhinopithecus roxellana)in an enclosure of Shanghai Zoo.The differences of each individual were also compared and analyzed. In contrast to those previous behavioral studies,we differentiated individuals and introduced the space factor to refine and explain their choice of behaviour benefited from the captive condition in this essay. So we could comprehend the consortship of this little OMU on individual level. The result indicated that:1.Resting was the principal activity of the golden monkeys and accounted for 56.80%.Grooming,as the mean kind of social behaviour, was in the seocond accounted for 11.56%.There was two peaks of the foraging behaviour during the daytime, which was same to the condition from the field. The behaviour of grooming and resting among the months showed significant differences, which was related the temperatures from month to month.KruakalWallis H test showed significant differences(P<0.01)in locomotion, grooming, feeding and self-grooming among individuals. The time spent for locomotion of the juvenile was much higher than others,so was that for self-grooming of female 2.2.In this tiny social group, the male and female 1 liked to move together the most, and the intimacy of juvenile and female 2 was in the second place.Male and female 1's activity was exclusive. They paid little attention to their child, the juvenile.Female 2 always avoided to have the same behaviour nearly with male.3.For the utilization of space, the most active region of the golden monkeys was the rockery area, accounting for 48.20%,and mainly for resting.Followed by the enrichment area, accounting for 32.81%,and for the individuals' diurnal movement and feeding activities,12.00% in the visit area, more begging activities related.Different individuals showed an obvious difference on utilization of different areas(P<0.01).The male and female 1 used the rockery area more, the juvenile and female 2 used the enrichment area more, the female 2 used the grass area far more than other individuals, and the juvenile used the visit area far more than other individuals.
