The social structure of the Sichuan snub-nosed monkey in the Qingling Mountains is formed by the one-male unit (OMU) of Multilevel society (MLS).The Colobinae live in Asia, the OMU is the basic social unit, that is consist of an adult male and several adult female with their offspring. In the Sichuan snub-nosed monkey in the Qingling Mountains between OMU and OMU haven’t territoriality, and A number of OMU together constitute a breeding group. Thus, the relationship of OMU is maintain the social stability of the group. This study we looked at the time of unit formation, inter-unit relationships, and social hierarchy to determine what mechanisms make the group maintaining the stable social structure. This study is from December2011to June2013.During the study period,19OMUs were tracked in Zhouzhi National Nature Reserve on the northern slope of the Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi, China. Using scan sampling to collect the distances between OMU’s and all-occurrence recording to collect vocal communication and aggressive-submissive behavior.1200hours of data including6888distance samples,3694vocal recordings, and1210aggression-submission were collected. We used the social network analysis (SNA) of SOCPROG2.4and NetDraw6.0to analyze the distances between OMU’s and vocal communication to gain the parameters of the affiliates relationship between OMU’s, and use the date of aggressive-submissive to calculate the OMU’s dominance hierarchy and steepness. Vocal communication results showed that OMU’s led by males with long residence periods formed a core, with other OMU attached as affiliates. Spatially, these OMU’s led by long-term resident males were joined by units led by males with shorter residencies or where the male had recently changed, with the three units forming a larger group. Dominance relationships between OMUs in the Qingling Mountains were not strong. In terms of social structure, OMU’s led by long-term resident male played an integral role in community composition and stability. Therefore, understanding the residence time, inter-unit relationships, and hierarchy of OMU’s can help us understand the mechanisms and stability behind social structure in S Sichuan snub-nosed monkeys.
