Geological cores and samples,formed in geological work,are important information which can promote economic and social development.The Ministry of Land and Resources(MLR),People's Republic of China,has always attached great importance to the development,utilization and services of geological cores and samples.Since most geological cores and samples are scattered custody in different places in domestic China,a unified service nationwide for them needs to be achieved.Article XV in “Geological Cores and Samples Management Regulation” revised and issued by MLR requires that,the Cores and Samples Center of Land and Resources(CSCLR)should establish the National Geological Cores and Samples Catalog Database and the Platform for information publishing.Therefore,according to the requirements of the Act,the CSCLR has established the National Geological Cores and Samples Cluster Service System with “scattered custody for data and logic unification for service” by using information technology,which has overcome the technical problems and successfully achieved a nationwide information convergence and services for geological cores and samples.In this paper,the author mainly focuses on the research and application of the National Geological Cores and Samples Cluster Service System.On the system research,the author comprehensively introduced the present situation of geological cores and samples management and the requirement of information technology.Then by demand analysis,the structures and functions of the system were determined.The National Geological Cores and Samples Cluster Service System was developed after the overall design was approved,which consists of cluster service system,data management system and acquisition tool system.The system was installed after passing the test and it now runs well.According to the research content,this paper is divided into six chapters.The first chapter is Introduction,which introduces the background information,thepurpose and significance of the system.The second chapter is Application Research of the Related Technology,which shows the technology application in the distributed cluster system construction.The third chapter is System Requirement Analysis,which introduces the requirements of business users,models,scopes,and functions.The fourth chapter is Overall Design of the System,which illustrates the application model,the overall structure,the functional structure and the data structure.The fifth chapter is Research and Realization of the System,in which the environment,mode of the system development,as well as the functions are introduced.The sixth chapter is Deployment and Application Effect of the System,which introduces the test,deployment and application of the system in detail.The National Geological Cores and Samples Cluster Service System,can help collect and disseminate the national geological cores and samples catalog data,avoiding the duplicated establishments of the national geological cores and samples service system,which reduces the secondary damage that the access of geological cores and samples makes to the environment,forces the centralized service of geological cores and samples to be achieved to prevent major geological disasters and resource shortages,promotes social services of geological cores and samples,and plays and important role in constructing the national geological cores and samples management system.
