This paper investigates the types, characteristics and distribution of geological disasters in the area of Shijiba township map in Baishuijiang River Basin. On this basis, the geological disaster formation conditions and the mechanism of the disaster are summarized, and the typical disaster points carry out engineering survey and evaluation. At the same time, based on the combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis results of ARCGIS software, the geological disaster susceptibility in the study area was evaluated, and the technical support was provided for disaster prevention and control in the area. The research methods and strategies of this paper can also be applied to other researches in Baishijiang River Basin. The main conclusions of this paper are as follows:1.The main types of geological disasters in the study area are landslide, collapse and debris flow. There are 168 cases, including 30 collapses,61 landslides and 77 debris flow.Geological disasters are mainly developed in the forward and horizontal sloping areas.Along the main stream of Baishuijiang River and the two sides of Zhongluhe River, the geological disasters on both sides of the highway are distributed in stripes, with the characteristics of quantity and distribution.2.Four types of landslide formation patterns in the study area summarized: slip in inside soil, slip in interface of soil and rock, slip in plane or the weak structure, slip in the zone of the weathering joint fissure surface;three types of collapse modes: sliding type, dumping type and falling type;three types of debris flow formation model: embankment accumulation erosion type, spoil pile erosion type, high collapse collapse type.3.Through the analysis of the geotechnical exploration and laboratory test of the sand dune in Shaqu sixth village landslide and Lishuba gully debris flow,it is shown that the landslide of the Shaqu sixth village is in a stable state, and after rainfall saturated and different seismic conditions, the possibility of instability is bigger;the Lishuba gully debris flow accumulation followed by 6 term,it is a strong period of viscous debris flow and outbreak of harm, should take some warning and prevention measures.4.Based on the method of quantitative evaluation of ARCGIS,nine kinds of specific elements, such as topography, geology structure, stratigraphic lithology, slope structure, river system, vegetation index and human engineering activities, were selected and calculated. It turned out that the high-prone area is 46.8km2.the middle-prone area is 88.8 km2;the low-prone area is 277 km2,the area of the non-prone area is 20.5 km2,and the corresponding scientific land planning advice is also given.
