The research area is located in the west slope of Great Xing'an Range, where the Paleo-Asian domain is superposed bytheMongol–Okhotsk and Paleo-Pacific domains. Duetothecomplex geological situation and strong tectonic-magmatic activities, this area hasgood ore-forming geological conditions. Field geological investigation and systematic geophysical and geochemicalstudies have been conducted to theMo and Ag-Pb-Zn Deposit in Northwest region of the HulunBuircity, with the aims ofcharacterizing their geology, geochemistry and geophysics, and determiningthe genesis ofmineral deposits, metallogenetic geologic condition, andfurther prospecting direction.Molybdenum deposit is closely related with Late Jurassic granite porphyry and mainly producedin the contact zone between the granite porphyry and the overlying wall rocks. Granitic porphyry is a direct prospecting mark.Geochemical criteria of the molybdenum deposit are the geochemical exploration of AgCu-WMoBi high value anomaly.Geophysical signs are the medium and low polarization and medium resistivity anomaly.Silver polymetallic deposit is related with Late Jurassic subvolcanic rocks and crypto-explosive breccias. Late Jurassicsubvolcanic rocks emplacedinto theLate Carboniferousnew Iraqi GenheFormation. The subvolcanic hydrothermalcarries a large amount of ore forming materialsand fills alongthe structureto form the AgPbZnpolymetallic ore deposits. Thesedeposits belong to mediumi-lowtemperaturevolcanic-subvolcanic hydrothermal filling vein type Ag Pb Zn deposit.Silver polymetallicdeposit is closely related with crypto-explosive breccias and subrhyolites. Geochemical criteriaare the geochemical exploration of AgCuPbZn high value anomaly.Geophysical signs are the low Medium resistivity anomaly and high polarization.The NE fractureinduced by the subduction of Pacific plate is the ore-controlling structure of Moand Ag-Pb-Zn Deposit. Orebearing fluid carried by Late Jurassic acidic magmasintrude along NE fracture, during which formed molybdenum depositin the deep and Ag-Pb-Zn depositin the shallow levels.According to metallogeniccongditions and the developmengtof prospecting marks,we considered that contact zone between the Carboniferous stratumand Jurassic acidic rocks which intrude alongthe NE fracture is the prospecting direction.
