In order to design the display and control system for ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers) with high requirement of the real-time operation and usability, this paper investigates the implementation method of each module in the display and control system for ADCP based on the behavior mode of Object-oriented software design and ergonomics. The paper proposes a method for the display and control with environmental adaptability, provides users with the varied and useful graphic expression based on the principles of user-friendly interaction. The main contents are as follows:1. Based on the analysis of the data structure of the system, the RS-485 serial is selected as the communication method. In response to the high requirement of the real-time responsiveness of the system, a data collection method based on the multithreading and container structure has been designed and implemented. The playback function of the system has been completed based on I/O operations of Qt.2. Users'controlling demands of the ADCP display and control system are analyzed based on the ergonomics. The control terminal of the software is designed according to the behavior mode of the Object-oriented, the encapsulation and scalability has been improved, and the coupling of the software is reduced. An adaptive controlling method is hence proposed to meet the needs of different users and the complex flow environment. A blind adaptive velocity calculation method is also designed based on the vertical velocity model. With this method, the usability and environmental adaptability of the system will be improved, further reducing the complexity of interaction.3. With regards to analysis on users'demands of the display terminal, the description of the velocity profile is investigated with the method of hypsometric tinting, it's also the basis for designing the adaptive displaying function applied to ADCP. To improve the on-site observation of the system, three more auxiliary expression methods, which are sub-beams, hierarchical and contrast figure, have been provided to users.4. The development and operation platform of the system is introduced. Each module has been designed by ergonomic and design psychology, to provide users with a system marked by efficiency, high usability, and satisfactory visual experience. The reliability of the system is verified through experimentation.
