Geoimage navigation is a new type of navigation that based on the geographical image asits main background data and the digital map as its supplemented background data. Geoimagenavigation makes up for the deficiency of the traditional map navigation, and also can effectivelyincrease the amount of information of the navigation scene. It provides users with intuitive, richnavigation background information, thereby enhancing the navigation visual effect. This papermainly focuses on issues about geoimage navigation, and does systematic research on boththeoretical and practical sides. The main work and innovations of the paper are as follows:(1) Analyzed the technical characteristics of geoimage navigation. Put forward theapplication of geoimage to navigation in static application models and dynamic application modeand the two modes of the structure, characteristics and technical difficulties are analyzed.(2) Gives the requirements for the image data preprocessing, focuses on the navigation keyelements of the preprocessing method of the road are analyzed, the use of shadow detection andremoval method based on the dual-threshold of HIS model and component compensation methodbased on the RGB model.(3) According to the characteristics of the static application model, this paper discusses thestorage strategy and method that applicable to this model, which improves the data storageefficiency and call efficiency. The data update problem is a bottleneck restricting thedevelopment of the static applications model.(4) The organization of geoimage data in server–side of the dynamic application are studied.The guiding ideology that in order to improve the system response speed, the projection of image,the space division, storage way, index mechanism are deeply discussed, and demand for thenavigation applications, to optimize the data organization way and establish efficient data indexto ensure the efficiency of real-time interactive navigation.(5) The data acquisition and display of the client are researched. The guiding ideology thatin order to improve the display efficiency, the client’s data acquisition strategy is discussed indetail: image data acquisition problem of the image rotation when the viewpoint changes issolved; According to the different needs of the navigation, the adaptive switching strategy formulti-resolution images is established; multi-scale scenes expression strategy to effectivelyreduce the download volume of data and refreshes. The data transmission and cache are studied:with the asynchronous communication technology, multithreading technology and progressivetransmission strategy, as well as internal and external cache mechanism, predictive cachestrategy and establish cache maintenance and other methods to ensure the real-time of navigation,high efficiency demands. (6) Three display modes for geoimage navigation were put forward, and probed into thescene of geoimage navigation display method. This paper mainly focuses on the characteristicsof the image elements of geographical information overlay design, and the method that achievesfade-in fade-out effect when the alternate display of image and digital maps is researched aims toalternate use of mode.
