| Langdon Winner,an American contemporary philosopher of technology and politician,broadly absorbed and referenced Critical Theory of Technology from Marx, Mumford, Marcuse, Ellul and other philosophers into his thoughts of philosophy of technology. He derived political nature of technology from technology autonomy, and expected to solve problems of technology dissimilation via democraticly control of technology. Meanwhile, Winner introduced a new method of politics of technology and greatly promoted the development of philosophy of technology on political dimension.Winner pointed out his idea on the essence of technology by regarding technology as a pattern of life when he redescribed the definition of technology by nonessentially classifying. He came up with the thoughts of technology autonomy from a brandly new perspective of politics, and illustrated the track of technology developing unconsciously by concepts of technological drift and technological somnambulism,as well as pointed out the inner logic of technology development by concepts of technological imperative and reverse adaptation of technology. Thus, he emphasized the autonomy of technology. Winner realized the political nature of technology by deeply perspecting technology autonomy. From the macroscopic and microscopic points of view, he discussed the possibility of his thoughts of technology on democratic control, transforming from theoretical level into practical level.Based on mainly interpreting Winner's thoughts of technology autonomy and primarily illustrating his thoughts of politics of technology, this paper also discussed the advancements,limitations,theoretical value and practical value of Winner's philosophy of technology. With the developing of China's modernization construction, it makes great difference if we introduce Winner's thoughts of politics of technology into the management of policy of science and technology. It will massively accelerate a healthy development of science and technology in China. |
