Eupatorium adenophorum is a great harm invasive plant, which blongs to the Asteraceae Ageratina family. It has mutiple biological activities. Previous research by our group has shown that Eupatorium adenophorum plays an important role in sprout inhibition, fresh keeping and prolonging the storage time of potato.The conditions for extraction of actives substances are determined and a rapid, efficient active identification method is set up. The main techniques are including physic-chemical properties, column chromatography, HPLC, TOF-MS, TLC and NMR.In this paper, systematic studies were carried out on active compounds from Eupatorium adenophorum. The aerial parts of Eupatorium adenophorum dried in the shade and smashed.Powder was extracted with 75% ethanol; the extract was leached with different solvents and separated by column chromatography, thin-layer chromatography, HPLCand 3 compounds were isolated by TOF-MS and NMR. Compound 1 was identified as [1R-(1?,3??4??5?)]-3-[[3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-1-oxoallyl]oxy]-1.4,5-trihydroxycyclohexanecarboxylic acid) and Compound 2 may be 4H-1-Benzopyran-4-one,2-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-5,7-dihydroxy-6-methoxy-Flavone. Brassica campestris was used for appraisal detection system. It is indicated that elution Fd6 has strong active on seed germination. Based on the investigation, it could be speculated that Fd6 delayed germination and low germination rate of the weeds after treatment could be due to the fact that active compounds damaged the membrane system of the seeds. Meanwhile the enzymatic activities (POD, SOD, CAT) were inhibited and MDA content went up as an abnormal level. By delaying germination, lowering the germination rate of the weeds and inhibiting seedling growth, leachate from Eupatorium adenophorumcould provide an effective way of developing a new potato suckercideswhich is not only friendly to environment, but also harmless to human health.
