Lack of controllability of the traditional terrain synthesis methods,but can not meet the terrain synthesized coincide with the real geological features and other problems,this paper presents a method based on the use of procedural modeling.To overcome the shortcomings of the process of modeling terrain model generation method does not match the actual topography,hydrology theory is introduced,the quantization of river network morphology based on the Tokunaga network,and further gives the river system based on process modeling L-system the method,by giving a different river Builder,you can build substantially in line with geological features consistent tree river or river plumes.On this basis,the proposed construction of terrain ridges heuristics.After obtaining three-dimensional terrain skeleton river and ridges,as a feature you can use mathematical methods intended to complement the body coming out the required DEM data,so that you can simulate the terrain in line with the real situation,because this part takes longer in order to meet the objectives of the user real-time requirements,the introduction of GPU technology to accelerate the process of generating the terrain.While taking advantage of the introduction of the Poisson equation discrete vector field to guide the parametric grid,So that the virtual and the real terrain DEM seamless integration,and the user can edit the localized grid according to demand,the generated terrain elevation generation influence,and thus meet the needs of users.Finally,the 25 m resolution DEM topography data of experimental research and data analysis and comparison,the results show that the method combines the advantages of physical modeling and process modeling,with good controllability,support large-scale terrain visualization,the introduction of GPU to achieve accelerated fast real purpose,while synthetic terrain with realistic topography.
