As a nationwide large-scale mining of coal, water environment problem is quite serious. Especially river runoff is decreasing or even cutting off. It have been restricted to the regional ecological environment construction and economic sustainable development. Kuye river is primary tributaries in the middle reaches of the Yellow River. In recent years, with the amount of coal mining increased, runoff decreased, the water resources supply and demand contradiction is increasingly outstanding. It has important significance to study the influence of coal mining on runoff for reasonable regulating of coal resources exploitation, water resources and ecological environmentThis article analyzes the variability of runoff within the year and the interannual. It represented by Wenjia Chuan station and Wangdaoheng Ta station. Two stations’ s interannual variability of runoff is bigger, 1960-2010 years of runoff overall assumes the declining trend of fluctuations. Moreover variability characteristics within years indicate the largest runoff is in August, the smallest runoff is in January, the continuous maximum runoff in 3 months is July to September. the continuous maximum runoff in 3 months is December to February the next year.As research the reason of reduction in runoff for Wenjia Chuan station and Wangdaoheng Ta station, qualitative analyzes the influence of natural factors and human activities on runoff in Kuye river basin. Both natural factors and human activities are influencing the runoff. The increase of coal mines is also the cause of the decrease of runoffOn the basis of the analysis of runoff and influence factors, for quantitative researching Coal mining influence on runoff, through the Yellow River water balance model simulate the effect of coal mining on runoff. Stage from 1999 to 2010, the average runoff effects reached2.92×108m3, During the period of 1999-2010 in Kuyehe Basin coal mining will average about 5138×104t. Then The influence on runoff tons of coal mining in Kuyehe basin is about5.68m3. Therefore, coal mining is one of the main causes of runoff in Kuyehe basin reduction. To study the effect of coal mining on runoff changes, social production have provided the certain basis for the future.
