Since China’s economy as well as tourism industry has developed rapidly, and tourism industry agglomeration has become an evident phenomenon. This paper,by reviewing related academic achievements, intends to find out the relationship between tourism agglomeration and the level of economic development. The article selects 31 provinces as the sample, takes the average value of GDP per capita during 2011-2013, calculates the proportion of the indicators in the overall proportion of the sample, and then adopts this data to measure the level of economic development.Meanwhile, the average value of location entropy is used to measure tourism agglomeration. After data collection, the paper investigates the correlation from national and regional aspects respectively, and adopts physics concept “resonance” to interpret some phenomena. On this basis, samples are devided into four types. The results indicate that:(1)there is a weak positive correlation nationwide;(2)a strong positive correlation can be found in eastern region, and a relatively strong negative correlation existed in western region, while in the central region correlation is not abvious;(3)in some provinces, the development of tourism and the development of economy have a resonance effect, with the unbalanced regional development, together explain the weak positive correlation nationwide;(4)samples can be devided into four types:low economic development level with a low agglomeration level, low economic development level with a high agglomeration level, high economic development level with a low agglomeration level, and both high in economic development and agglomeration level. In the end,the article summarizes the research contents and discusses the deficiency of this research and the possible direction of future research.
