Rapid development of the expressway construction has been seen in the past two to three decades in China. By the end of 2014, the total mileage of expressways in service in China has exceeded 110 thousand kilometers, which has provided great convenience for people’s traveling, meanwhile has lowered the highway transportation costs, strengthened communications within and between the regions and promoted economic development of the areas along the expressways.Job satisfaction of the employees of expressway operation enterprises imposes a significant impact on the healthy and orderly development of the expressway industry. Especially, as in the service sector, acting as a window of the region towards outside, the job satisfaction of the frontline employees will directly affect their service attitude and work performance, thereby affect not only the economic benefit but also the social benefic of the expressways. Therefore, it is quite necessary to be aware of and improve the job satisfaction of the frontline employees of the expressway operation enterprises.The thesis has chosen the frontline employees of seven expressway operation enterprises in Ningbo Municipality Zhejiang Province as the subject in study, and established the research framework after consulting literature, studying and considering theories as well as getting to know about the basic situations of the enterprises and their staff management. The writer has carried out a questionnaire survey regarding job satisfaction with all of the frontline employees of one enterprise and some of the frontline employees of the other six enterprises, also had fact to fact talks with three frontline employees one by one. Based on the survey data and the talks, an analysis has been conducted regarding the influence factors of job satisfaction of the frontline employees in order to understand the employees’ expectation on the enterprises and the jobs. When the gap and the orientation of improvement are defined, the writer has, utilizing her knowledge in the domain of human resource management, forwarded suggestions on improvement of the job satisfaction of the frontline employees and enhancement of the human resource management of the expressway operation enterprises in Ningbo.
