Research On The Influences Of Energy Saving And Emission Reduction On The Automobile Industry Corporate Performance

The society economy has been developing fast at a lot of cost, including the environment that we rely on and non-renewable resources. With an increasingly shortages of resources, we should be clearly aware of the need for the balance between society development with resource consumption to develop sustainably. The problem that each enterprise faces is how to balance increasing business performance with strengthening corporate social responsibility by carrying out energy conservation and emission reduction. The automotive industry, one of the pillar industries in the GDP contribution to the society, also consumes a lot of energy and resources. With the improvement of the urbanization process and peoples’ living standards, consumers’ constantly increasing demands for vehicles lead to the great consumption of resources. Therefore, it’s necessary and meaningful to study on energy saving and emission reduction and it’s connection with business performance in automobile manufacturing enterprises.This paper attempts to illustrate the condition of energy saving and emission reduction from three aspects: total energy consumption, energy structure and energy consumption each ten thousand output. Referring to resource-based theory, the relationship between energy saving and enterprise performance is analyzed theoretically. The thesis statement is heterogeneous enterprise resources, including physical resources, intangible resources and human resources and organizational capacity can be accumulated by energy saving and emission reduction to improve business performance.Based on 2010--2014 years of energy saving data and financial data of automobile industry in China, the relationship between enterprise performance with energy conservation and emission reduction is analyzed in the empirical research by three indexes including ROA, ROE and enterprise social environment index.FAW Group’s case is used to prove that energy saving behavior does not conflict with enterprise performance, but help to improve it in the case analysis. Using FAW Group in 2014 the real situation and data as a benchmark, the potential impact of energy saving on enterprise performance will be analyzed by simulating variable policy in the future.Combining theoretical analysis with empirical analysis and case analysis, this paper is proving that energy saving has healthy and positive impact on business performance. And the companies should pay more attention on how to optimize the flow paths and methods of energy saving. At the end of paper, five advices will be given on carrying out energy saving effectively from enterprises’ viewpoint, as well as government’s viewpoint.
