Research On The Scope Of The Economic Region Based On The Perspective Of The Central City And Its Hinterland

Economic region is the basic pattern of regional economic operation. A deeply understanding of the connotation of the economic region will help to achieve the best allocation of resources, strengthen regional cooperation and promote the overall progress of the national economy. Our country has a vast territory, and the difference of resource endowrnent between regions is very large. According to the economic development, the economic development planning is the objective demand of the economic development of our country. The correct division of the economic region is the premise of the economic region planning, the study of the division of economic zone is conducive to enrich the theory of regional economy, deepen the understanding of the central city and its hinterland and economic regional relations.This paper tries to analyze the scope of Central China Economic District from the perspective of the central city and its hinterland, based on the principle through the theoretical and empirical research. First of all, this text combs the relevant concepts of economic region and economic region division theory, according to the domestic and foreign scholars’ study about the economic region. Secondly, on the foundation of these researches, this paper will refine the concept of economic region, analyze the development stage of economic region, put forward the connotation and structure of the economic region.. Thirdly, based on the previous theoretical analysis, this text sets Central China Economic District as an example and selects data in 2013. With the help of SPSS software this text uses principal component analysis method to determine Central China Economic District’ central city, then uses cluster analysis method to determine the cities which compete with the central city of Central China Economic District at the same level. After this work, this text will use AHP method to calculate the sample city’s comprehensive strength and adopt the modified breaking point model to estimate the area of Central China Economic District. Finally, carry out a comparative analysis of the actual operation of Central China Economic District and the scope of the national planning and then put forward some suggestions.The main innovations of this paper are as follows:firstly, it defines and deepens the connotation of the economic region, analyzes the theory of the division of economic regions. Secondly, based on the theory of economic region analysis, uses improved breaking point model and a multi-index system to determine sample cities and AHP analysis method to determine the strength of the sample cities, define the area of Central China Economic District’ actual range scientifically and rationally. Thirdly, compare the actual scope of Central China Economic District and the planning scope, and put forward relevant policy recommendations.
