With the gradual opening up of China’s market economy and the acceleration of the world economic integration, people’s life is becoming more and more internationalized and the consumption level is becoming higher and higher. Therefore, more and more people begin to have their own private cars. Growing demand for cars has contributed to the development of the automobile industry. But our state has increasingly paid more attention to environmental protection. Pollution of the environment problem is becoming more serious. With the implementation of the policy of prevention and control of atmospheric pollution, the automotive industry’s development has also encountered unprecedented challenges. In order to consolidate its market position in the existing market competition, and to gain new market share, many enterprises in the automotive industry must fundamentally improve their competitiveness. An important aspect of improving their competitiveness is to evaluate their own performance. The problem worth considering by the leaders of the automobile enterprises is how to evaluate their own performance objectively and fairly. Using a set of comprehensive and rational performance indicators to evaluate the performance of the enterprise is of necessity. On the one hand, it will improve business performance and promote enterprise’s long-term advancement; On the other, it will contribute to the upgrading of the structure of the automobile industry and enhance the ability to innovate in itself, which is conducive to the sustainable development of our society. The balanced scorecard is a powerful tool to evaluate the performance of enterprises, because it is from the finance, customer, internal processes and learning and growth these four dimensions to comprehensively evaluate the performance of companies. This thesis will focus on the NT company, which hasn’t introduced the balanced scorecard, to help it to establish a set of practical indicators accord with their own development, in order to continuously improve the operating performance, continuously improve the competitiveness and provide strong protection for its success.Writing this thesis has consulted many references and cases. This thesis will establish the indicators from four dimensions of the balanced scorecard step by step so that we can assess and evaluate the NT’s performance in a comprehensive way. There are seven parts in total. The first part will introduce the background, meaning, methods, structure and expected contributions of the thesis. And the second part will be the literature review of performance evaluation and balanced scorecard. The third part will introduce the theoretical basis of the performance evaluation and balanced scorecard. And the fourth part will be the introduction of the NT company. The fifth part will be the most important body of this thesis. It will construct the performance evaluation index system of the NT company on the basis of five steps. Then the next part will give some suggestions to carry out the performance evaluation index system smoothly. The last part will be the conclusion of this thesis, including the inadequacies and the direction of future research.It is of great necessity to construct the performance evaluation index system on the basis of the real situation of the NT company. The balanced scorecard will contribute to the competitiveness of the company fundamentally and it will make the company become bigger and stronger. Finally,it will help the NT company to make its strategic objective achieved in the near future. With the help of balanced scorecard, NT company will have a promising development in the future.
