In recent years, China has become one of the largest economy in international import and export business. However, the growth of China’s foreign trade rate has experienced distinct decline as a result of a slowdown in international economic growth. In comparison, a new trade model called cross-border e-commerce has experienced a rapid growth. According to an estimation made by China’s Ministry of Commerce, the transaction volume of cross-border e-commerce will reach 6.5 trillion Chinese Yuan by 2016, and the growth rate of e-commerce will greatly surpass traditional international trade. Both the government and foreign trade enterprises have realized that cross-border e-commerce will become the principle mode in the of future foreign trade. However, the present cross-border e-commerce in China remains to be perfected in various aspects, such as commodity quality, logistics system, supervision and regulation, cross-border service guarantee system. Shanghai Free Trade Zone provides a pilot trial for overall opening-up of China’s cross-border e-commerce via beneficial and advantageous policies. Taking advantage of Free Trade Zone can push forward the integrated development of China’s cross-border e-commerce industry and enlarge our market share in the international trade market, so as to further enhance China’s international competitiveness.This article examines the influence of Shanghai Free Trade Zone on cross-border e-commerce based on an analysis of the current development of cross-border e-commerce, and comes to a conclusion that the integrated transaction process of cross-border e-commerce has been optimized by integrating methods of the cross-border logistics zone, financial reforming measures, customs supervision and regulation as well as innovation of inspection and quarantine modes in the Free Trade Zone. This article further conducts a comprehensive analysis of the advantages and disadvantages, opportunities and risks of developing cross-border e-commerce via SWOT analysis approach, and comes up with a development strategy of cross-border e-commerce combining the real situation in China. The strategy promotes that the government function should be improved, the environment should be adapted to the development of a well-performed cross-border E-commerce and the service system supporting cross-border e-commerce should be perfected so as to guarantee the sound development of cross-border e-commerce in China.
