Abstract/Summary:
Construction enterprises play an important role in Chinese national economy. However, risk is an important factor influencing construction quality, time and cost in construction enterprises. It has become a problem not to be sneezed at in such aspects as how to avoid visible and potential risks and how to lower losses and increase profits.Risk management, a new discipline, came to China and developed later, compared to other west countries, which started in the 1980 s. Even though some researchers have studied on risk management in Chinese state-owned construction enterprises, the development of risk management is still in the primary stage. Therefore, considering that Chinese state-owned construction enterprises does not owns sound risk management system or high risk management maturity, this thesis carries out the work hereinafter.Firstly, based on the basic theory, this thesis not only describes development situation of risk management, but also explores the factors belonging to the four components in risk management system(i.e. risk management culture, risk management process, risk management mechanism and additional management items).Secondly, this thesis describes differences and similarities between exploratory factor analysis methodology and confirmatory factor analysis methodology in factor analysis theory, besides getting a mathematical model in exploratory factor analysis theory methodology and exploring application methodology of factor analysis theory in SPSS(Statistics Package for Social Science). What is more, structure equation modeling based on confirmatory factor analysis theory is set up and parameters are listed to evaluate the rationality of this model.Thirdly, after analyzing all factors affecting risk management system with confirmatory factor analysis theory, the thesis show that there are 8 key factors determining the development of risk management in Chinese state-owned construction enterprises. They are leaders’ support, personnel’s responsibility, comprehensiveness of risk identification, costs and benefits, risk appetite, understanding and application of language, frequency of training and performance management. Meanwhile, according to mean levels of 8 key factors and the percentages of different items indifferent levels drawn in the thesis, it manifests that risk management level is low and the development of risk management system is not sound in Chinese state-owned construction enterprises. Finally, in order to explore the extent to which risk management culture affects risk management process, this thesis employs confirmatory factor analysis methodology which is based on structure equation modeling. The results show that leaders play an important role in reinforcing risk assessment and treatment in risk management, and general staff play an important role in improving risk identification and treatment in risk management. Furthermore, leaders have an effect on the attitude of general staff in facing risks in risk management culture.
