This paper chooses the area of Baiyinnuoer lead-zinc mine as the object of study located in the area of Greater Khingan South Piedmont belonging to the vulnerable areas where the ecological environment is poorly unstable. on the base of field investigation, and by means of "3S" technology, using of the four phase of high resolution images in the key nodes (1985,2001,2009,2013) of the process of mine construction, to conduce the research of land use structure and distribution change, and to analysis landscape pattern change in the mining area from 1985-2013 nearly 30 years as the main research content. Based on CA-Markov model to predict the land use structure and distribution of the study area in 2017, to analysis the change trend of land use.Overall, to research LUCC, the effect on landscape pattern changes and succession law in the historical process of the development of Baiyinnuoer lead-zinc mine as the main content of this paper, in order to provide reference for the sustainable development of land resources and the coordinated development of ecological environment in the study area.The main conclusions are as follows:(1) In the past 30 years, the scale of forest land and grassland is dominant in the study area, and the scale of the mutual transformation between them is largest too.(2) The scale of land in the study area, which formed by mineral exploitation including improper excavation, cover occupation, and piling, shows the trend of increasing gradually. And affected by the factors of mine development, construction and exploitation mode, the increase of improper excavation land mainly occurred during the open pit mining, the increment of piling land is mainly concentrated in the early stage of production and construction, while the increment of the cover occupation land is accompanied with the whole production and construction period.(3) The change of land use distribution is affected by many factors, such as the distribution of resources, mine construction, topography and vegetation distribution. Improper excavation, cover occupation, and piling land mainly transferred from the forest and grassland.(4) The predict of the land use structure and distribution in 2017, which based on CA-Markov model shows that the size of grassland, cover occupation land, arable land, Improper excavation land will increase, the trend of land use distribution pattern towards stabilization.(5) The comprehensive analysis of the landscape pattern index including the patch-class level and landscape level shows that the landscape pattern tends to be fragmented and complex, which mainly reflected the increase in the number of patches, spatial dispersion, the edge shape be more complex, the high degree of patch mixing, landscape shaped strongly by strip patch, and the complex change of landscape types.
