| Export oriented trade strategy has been put in the most important position in China’s economic development for a long time, which led to a large number of trade surplus, but also the problems of trade friction and imbalance. Therefore, to pay attention to the role of import in the economic growth and the change of international status has become a problem to be solved for China. In the past decades, most of the research on the import is concentrated in the industrial level, but the ones from the micro point of view, especially on China’s import commodity structure and technical structure of the study is relatively few.Based on the macro and micro perspective, using the combined methods of theoretical and empirical research, this paper discusses the problem of the national structure and technical structure of China’s imported goods. In the study of the national structure, this article follows the international trade standard classification method, and analyzes the distribution of the country’s 10 categories of goods. As for the research of the technical structure, this article begins from the theoretical level, analyzes the measurement method of the commodity technology content and the evolution mechanism of the imported commodities’technical structure upgrading. On the basis of this, we use it to improve the measuring index of technical content, and then analyze the technical structure of China’s imported commodities. Finally, according to the evolution mechanism, and adds the control variables such as technical level, technical trade barrier, this paper gives an empirical analysis of the factors that affecting the upgrading of the technical structure of imported commodities. The main contributions and conclusions of this paper are as follows:Firstly, with the research of national structure this paper finds that for China, the proportion of imported goods from developed countries has increased, while it remains unchanged or even decrease for the imported goods from developing countries.Secondly, this paper extends the imported commodity structure analysis to the product level, and finds that China has no significant growth in the import of low and medium high technology products, but more in favor of technical products, while the demand for low technology goods has declined. Over time, the change in the technical structure of China’s imported commodities is becoming smaller, and the stracture is more similar to that of developing countries.Thirdly, this paper empirically analyzes the impact of different factors on the upgrading of China’s import commodity technology structure. It is found that the exchange rate, the export country and the Chinese economic development level, the technical level of the exporting country, the non-technical trade barrier, the labor cost and so on are all play the important role in the upgrading of the technological structure of the Chinese import commodity. At the end of this paper, in view of the above conclusions, this paper puts forward the corresponding policy recommendations, such as the implementation of the diversification of import policies, so as to further improve China’s import stracture and provide a reference to promote the development of China’s economy. |
