In the aspect of enterprise strategic research, existing theoretical & empirical studies of patent strategy at home and abroad mainly pay close attention to the basic problems of patent strategy, few scholars focus on relationship between patent strategy and other enterprise strategy; Similarly, the literature quantity of functional strategy is significantly less than those of enterprise strategy and business strategy, both at home and abroad. Most literature focus on the planning, formulation and execution of functional strategy, rather than the relationship between the functional strategy and other corporate strategy; Research on the relationship between patent strategy and function strategy research is almost blank, existing literature is limited to the framework of patent strategy & technology innovation, technological catch-up, core competence, and so on. Academic strategic research currently focus on the strategic relationship between different enterprises, whereas interaction research on horizontal relations between the same strategic levels in single company is almost blank.Based on excessive reading of empirical and theatrical strategy literature both at home and abroad, the author discover that patent strategy and functional strategy are not only closely related in aspect of technical innovation and core competence, they are mutually influenced, interworked and inseparable. Particularly patent strategy is strongly correlated with market strategy, product strategy and technology strategy.This paper conduct innovation in both theory and research methods of strategy. In theoretical level, covert the strategic research perspectives from behavioral orientation towards results verification, from indirect causality towards direct causality, widening the research scope from between-enterprise towards inner-enterprise. Breaking the existing strategic linkage mechanism, directly study the two-way relationship betweenthree main functional strategy and patent strategy. In empirical level, to demonstrate the viewpoint and provide empirical support, this paper combine qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis.Empirical case analysis take example of domestic smartphone manufacturer, systematically analyzing Huawei’s patent strategy, product strategy, market strategy and technology strategy, to provide empirical support for the cross interaction between patent strategy and functional strategy.Empirical measurement use Eviews to quantify patent strategy, product strategy, market strategy and technology strategy, conduct correlation calculation, finally determine the strategy correlation.
