Operational performance of the airline routes that is the basis of company operating affects the flight plan, capacity allocation, crew scheduling and other aspects. In response to the national strategy of the new form and the impact of high-speed rail transport network, the airlines are accelerating the strategic base and upgrading route network layout. Therefore, researching on the route layout and operational effectiveness are very significant to improve and enhance the company’s competitiveness.Firstly, this paper reviews route planning method, noting the importance of the airline route planning for development; To detailed analyze the factors of airline routes running, including internal and external factors; and route planning principles are followed elaborated. Then it proposes the method for airline operations performance. Firstly, the AHP evaluation index system is to select hub airports. To use the score index weights combined to give the airports the score and rank, and thus the hub airports are decided. The second phase, under the premise of hub airports determined, it use a linear programming model to optimize the route Cohesion. As China Airlines route network to plan for example, in the analysis of the current Air China hub route network layout and construction, taking into account factors that influence the effectiveness of the route, some routes are adjustment and operational performance assessment.Route layout is obviously optimized in the number of flights, traffic capacity and load factor, etc.. Airline companies can get a stronger competitive position and higher economic efficiency.
