Research On Firm Growth Route And Influencing Factors

In new century, enterprises of China are facing unprecedented chances. Whether they can grow quickly in coming several decades concern not only themselves but also the economics and society of china. According to recent data, the average of the 500 largest companies operating revenues of china is only 10 percent of that of the 500 largest companies of the world. This gap is so big that no way shall we ignore it. Thus enterprise theories and enterprise management theories must answer these questions:How enterprise grows, why some companies can grow continuously to be long-lived ones and why some componies are very short-lived or stay to be small ones after a long time.In this paragraph, we choose more than one thousand companies from America, British, France, Germany and China as our researching targets. These companies include famous Fortune 500 companies, 100 largest Industrial companies from British, France and Germany and growing listed companies from China. The time covers 55 years from 1950 to 2005. We make a large quantity of empirical researches. The textual main work includes:Firstly: We propose the characterizations of enterprise growth and reveal the relations between enterprise growth and enterprise scale or enterprise age by studying 210 companies of china. And then we find there are two laws in the enterprise scale distribution and enterprise growth rate distribution.Secondly: We reveal the influencing factors on enterprise growth by studying 43 important articles and analyze influencing content of these influencing factors by contrast researches between 50 rapid-growth companies and 50 slow-growth companies. Then we depict the growth routes and their influencing factors through researches on 170 big successful companies from Germany, America,British and France. Based on these, we depict lengthways route chart of enterprise growth and the nine grids route chart.Thirdly: We state the influencing law revealed by one-hundred histories of enterprise growth and the challenge it faces in the new century.Fourthly: We establish the structural equation model of enterprise growth. It summarizes the main content of this paragraph and comes to a systemic model of enterprise growth.
