China’s urbanization level enhances unceasingly, the regional urbanization level is generally improved. The urbanization development occupies the important position in the future development strategy in our country,. Numerous studies of urbanization, analyze the factors promoting the urbanization process in different ways, analysis the impact of urbanization development. Transportation infrastructure as an important part of infrastructure, may also play an important role in the process of urbanization. This paper begins to study this topic.For the study of transport infrastructure effect on urbanization, the first thing to clarify the mechanism of action the traffic facilities affect urbanization. The urbanization will be further divided into economy urbanization, population urbanization and urbanization of the space, traffic facilities play a role of intermediary can be divided into transport costs,commuting costs and transportation accessibility. Through the introduction of residents and enterprise decision analysis, finally build the traffic facilities in touch with urbanization.In particular, the link includes three aspects: first, the development of traffic facilities,can reduce the transportation cost, produce a significant influence to enterprise’s production decision, more broadly, the development of traffic facilities can improve the efficiency and make connections between the supply and demand, reduce deadweight loss,it has profound significance to the economic development. As a result, traffic facilities and the urbanization of economic links. Second, the development of traffic facilities, can reduce the commuting cost, on the one hand, this makes residents living diversification has become possible, on the other hand also reduces the barriers between urban and rural population flows, laid the foundation for the development of urbanization. As a result,traffic facilities and population urbanization links. Finally, transport infrastructure level determines the transport infrastructure construction level of accessibility. Region of space layout will be directly affected by the traffic facilities; Residents of production decision-making, housing consumption has important influence on urban land space use,through the spatial layout of this affected the spatial range of urbanization.Based on this connection, using the theoretical model, analysis of residents and enterprises in the pursuit of their own maximum can get the balanced result. Theoretical model for traffic facilities for economy urbanization, population urbanization and spatial effects of urbanization are discussed in this paper, but ultimately rests on the urbanization of the population. Theoretical model was divided into two steps, the first step is mainly analyzed the urbanization from the economy and population urbanization, in the second part further to residents’ housing decisions, synthetically analyzing traffic facilities for the promotion of urbanization. In the model, the residents can be divided into urban and rural residents, products are divided into agricultural products and industrial products. Traffic facilities affect the efficiency, and ultimately affect enterprises and residents’ decision-making. In the two models is proved that the traffic facilities for the promotion of urbanization.The results of the empirical study confirmed the conclusion of theoretical analysis.Same with theoretical model, empirical research focuses on transportation to the influence of population urbanization. Our country since 1993-2013 provincial data reflects the urbanization by the positive relationship with transport facilities. And, it has been further empirical research on three important conclusions: first, different traffic facilities for the promoting effect of urbanization is different. In general, the data showed that highway traffic most significantly for the promoting effect of urbanization. Second, between different regions, there are many differences between the effect of urbanization.Economic environment and geographical environment may affect it. Third, in the different stages of development of the national economy, the traffic facilities play different role in the process of urbanization.After completed the theoretical and empirical research, in order to make the research conclusion more realistic, specifically for the Yangtze river delta region in case study, a detailed summary experience of the development of regional transportation network in Yangtze river delta, and analyzed the evaluation from the transportation system. "Yangtze river delta" two provinces and one city’s urbanization rate higher than the national average.In 2014, urbanization rate were 89.6%, 65.21% and 64.87%, compared with the urbanization rate of 54.77% of our country. Yangtze river delta region of the level of urbanization rate and degree of growth were higher than the national standard. At the same time, the Yangtze river delta developed traffic network also is in the lead in the country.Therefore, the Yangtze river delta region development plan has important reference meaning.In this paper, there are three important conclusions: regional transportation infrastructure projects have a positive role in promoting the urbanization; This role with differences between the different transport facilities, varies from area to area, also varies in different stage of economic development; The Yangtze river delta area by reasonable planning and construction, construction of the advanced and efficient three-dimensional transport network, its successful experience is worth reference for other regions.In this paper, the main innovation lies in:First, the construction of theoretical model. Through discussing the transport facilities effect mechanism of urbanization, and turn it into the theory model, finally proved the positive relationship between urbanization and transportation facilities.Second, all-round empirically. In empirical research part, in addition to the overall analysis of regional transport facilities and urbanization, and further to the types of traffic facilities and quality differences, regional differences, economic development stage diffenerces.Third, summarize the experiences of the Yangtze river delta regional development traffic network.
