Study On VMI Mode Of Application In The DT Company

With the increasingly fierce market competition, the enterprises which only rely on their own resources and strength have been unable to adapt to the changing market environment. Therefore, theory of supply chain management has widely been paid attention. As a new pattern of management of inventory in supply chain, Vendor Managed Inventory(VMI) has changed the traditional operating mode of the inventory management, which embodies an integration of supply chain fully.DT company is the enterprise which specializes in the production of slurry pumps and spare parts in North China. The traditional inventory management model that the enterprise adopted results in the high cost of inventory, which has affected the productivity of enterprises and restrict its development to some extent. From the perspective of supply chain, this paper studies the application of VMI model in DT company.Based on the theories related to supply chain management, inventory management and VMI, at first, this paper takes DT company as the research object. Through investigation of its development and the current situation of inventory management, it finds out the problems existing in inventory management, such as, the high total inventory, big capital occupation, the low inventory turnover rate, the confused management of warehouse, the Unpunctuality of collecting the goods to the library and poor material complete setting etc, and explores the reason deeply. Then it puts forward the Conditional framework for enterprise to apply VMI and analyzes the feasibility of VMI in DT company from 6 aspect as followed: the characteristics of the material are in good agreement; manufacturing enterprises and suppliers are at the same strategic level; the Supplier have high ability of inventory management and forecasting; it has the perfect information system; it provides good logistics support platform, it possesses reasonable risk prevention mechanism etc. If the VMI is feasible, according to the actual situation of DT company, this paper develops the 12 goals of VMI’s implementation. Under this premise, VMI operation scheme design is carried out in several aspects, such as operation mode and process, demand forecast, the choice of object, and the choice of cooperative suppliers. Then through the Several aspects such as the pre preparation of the implementation, the steps of the implementation and the process of responsibility allocation, the implementation of the protection measures, it does management research on the implementation of VMI model in DT company.
