Through the research on the GEM companies’ growth ability, can better understand the factors that affect the GEM companies’ growth ability in china. Combing higher growth ability of the company’s objectives, discover the shortcomings. Adjust the risk and all the problems of GEM companies, actively respond to challenges. Guide social resources to the accumulation of competitive companies in emerging industries, promote to achieve the optimization allocation of resources, to truly achieve the purpose of theory to guide practice. Therefore, compared with previous scholars to the GEM companies’ growth as the research hotspot, this thesis mainly studies the growth ability of the company, pay more attention to its future development.This thesis will use the GEM companies’ growth ability as a starting point, and list the 355 companies of GEM as the research sample. Based on the characteristics of the GEM companies, the research model is established from two aspects: the basic index and potential index, which includes the operational capacity, profitability and solvency, the potential indicators include innovation, management capabilities and knowledge level of employees, scale expansion and expansion of business capacity. According to the model uses the factor analysis method for integrated study of the GEM companies’ growth ability, and the sample company according to the results of the factor analysis is divided into growth ability two groups, comparatively analyze from the industry and region, capital structure and company performance factors, innovation ability influence factors of two groups of sample companies.The main conclusions of this thesis: firstly, the growth ability of information technology industry which is the biggest industry is well, however, the growth ability of the second largest industry new materials and new energy is bad, the reason is that new materials and new energy is a new industry in china, the industry’s overall level is poor, and needed to strengthen research and development. Secondly, in the GEM sample companies, the maximum number of sample companies is guangdong province, a total of 76 sample companies, but the growth ability of Guangdong province where is in the low group of relatively more is poor, so compared to Beijing and Shanghai, Guangdong province need stronger supervision. Thirdly, the growth ability in the low group of the GEM sample companies is insufficient in some ways, such as: the profit ability, innovation ability and the overall level of staff, who should pay attention to inspire potential talent, cultivate their growth ability.
