Telecommunication software industry has a very harsh competition. Along with the continuous change of the times, software development presents a series of new characteristics; it is based on the particular needs of a new era and a new push to accelerate the pace of software development implementation. Modern software development companies need to transform to agile development model to adapt to rapid changes to support market demand.Comparing to the traditional waterfall development model, agile development model highlights the close collaboration among team members via face to face communication, and also self-organized team culture. It pays more attention to the human factors in software development.This paper takes company A as a real case to study both business market and company competitiveness aspects. It points out the importance of R&D team transition. In the background of analysis of the current situation, for software development in telecommunication companies, it is not only facing a series of opportunities, but also crises and challenges. R&D team must stay the edge of new technologies and transform themselves to be more efficient.This paper takes one team in a large international technology company as an example to study its agile development model transformation story. By analyzing this case deeplyin-depth and systematically, this paper elaborates and explores the problems encountered during the transition, and also the causes of the problems. By utilizing the "Agility Survey", a further study was conducted to track the agile transformation progress and also discover the key steps of agile transformation, together with the possible potential issues. In the end, this paper comes up a summary of sharing including below key points:"Step by step", "Establishing trust firstly" and "Continuous feedback", which provide a solid reference for other enterprises that are doing transformation of agile development model from both theory and practices point view.
