With the entering into WTO, the prohibition of financial market gradually abolished, foreign companies stationed in the domestic market and the development of the insurance industry gradually with international standards. With the development of enterprise information, the insurance company gradually realized that in the knowledge economy era, knowledge and employees had the greatest influence on the development of enterprises. How to play the enthusiasm and initiative of the staff has become more and more important. Therefore, how to design a suitable performance management system is a research that the enterprise leaders and human resources department have been focused on.At present, many insurance companies are faced with some problems. Many insurance companies are more focused on the performance evaluation itself, while ignoring the performance appraisal preparatory work (such as:performance appraisal related training, performance evaluation index design) and performance evaluation results feedback and usage, so that the current performance evaluation can not fully mobilize the enthusiasm of the company, and it is difficult to making the staff who create more value for the company stand out and get more return, so the reform of performance management system is imminent.The article is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction of the article. It’s the premise of the whole article writing. The second part is the theoretical part, mainly introduced the concept, principle, method and process of performance management, which is the basis for the case analysis of the article. The third to five chapter is the case analysis of the article. The third part of the paper is a brief introduction of A insurance company, and then through the questionnaire survey find the problem of A insurance company performance management. Then the paper puts forward suggestions on the application of A insurance company from the aspects of enterprise culture, assessment index, assessment process and results. The fifth part is the core part of the article. On the basis of the above, insurance company performance management system was redesigned, including the principle of KPI scheme design, job description developing, performance evaluation scheme, the company level index design and middle management performance evaluation program design.The author hopes that the article can make the majority of insurance companies realize the problems faced by the current performance management, and the case of the A insurance company’s index design can provide a valuable reference for the improvement of the performance management system of insurance companies.
