Development model plays a vital role for a modern enterprise to win in the fast-changing economic environment. How a logistic enterprise find its proper development model from the interactions between market expansion and internal operation needs to be further studied. The existing theories fail to solve this issue. The present author holds that if the exploration and development perspectives of ambidexterity capability can be integrated to study the development of an enterprise will help to balance the relations between market expansion and internal operation, thus thoroughly unveil the development model of a logistic enterprise. On the one side, an enterprise expands its markets by exploring and seizing opportunities; on the other side, an enterprise promotes its fast development by strengthening internal operations with management regulations and authorizations. This research takes Yuxin Logistics Cooperation (YLC) as a case study and ambidexterity capability as tool to analyze that how YLC, at its three developmental phases, shapes its development model featured with spirally evolvement from two seemingly conflicting but actually mutual-promoting factors:market expansion and internal operation. This paper conducts researches and strives to gain conclusions step by step from the following two aspects.a. In exploring, establishing and improving development model, staffs of different levels have their own ambidexterity capabilities. In exploring the development model, the senior managing personnel have the ambidexterity capability of both concerning markets and staffs. At establishing phase, the senior managing personnel have the ambidexterity capability of balancing market expansion and internal operation, namely, the capability of exploring & sizing market opportunities and managing regulations and authorizations. At improving stage, senior managing personnel, managers and staffs all have the ambidexterity capability of paying attention to market expansion and internal operation. The ambidexterity capability of staffs is reflected from their abilities of caring the individual demands from clients and the reasonable advices from the managing circle, helping an enterprise explore and seize opportunities and realizing more reasonable management regulations and authorizations to balance market expansion and internal operation. It also unveils how ambidexterity capabilities at various levels affect the development model of an enterprise.b. The enterprise promotes its development model by the consistent upgrading and improvement. In market expansion, YLC adopts the strategy of "integrating pieces into blocks, namely, YLC, in expanding markets, builds its sub-structures into pieces, and then integrate those pieces into a block to occupy markets. To be more specific, YLC fully seizes all opportunities based on its existing opportunities and resources to promote internal operation. In internal operation, it adopts "copy-paste" approach, namely, YLC copies all existing management regulations to the newly established sub-structures to realize its duplicable fast development. To be more specific, YLC properly authorizes management to its sub-structures while copying management regulations as per the actual internal and external environments of sub-structures, ensuring the sub-structures fully adjust to the "localized" development and pushing market expansion. To sum up, this paper elaborates the role of ambidexterity capabilities on development model of an enterprise in exploring, stabling and improving the model, designing a process model where the development model is shaped from the interactions between market expansion and internal operation to provide a systematic perspective and a framework based on experiences that can be applied to a broader scope for practitioners to build their development models with external and internal ambidexterity capabilities.
