Research On The Beijing Vegetables Wholesale Price Difference

Vegetables are indispensable for daily life. With prices of vegetables rising in recent years, it arouses great concern to consumers and social media for the declining of consumer purchasing power and the rising cost of living. Beijing, as the capital of China, has a large population and more than 10 million consumers. The capital people’s "vegetable basket" expensive or not has been the focus of the agricultural departments. In this paper, we conduct the following survey of Beijing vegetable wholesale for half a year. Recording the real changes from the wholesale market to the retail terminal that have taken place.Firstly, we analysis the domestic and foreign theories on the vegetable price difference including wholesale and retail,then describe it in detail and sort out the research results.In the case analysis, this paper conducted continuous tracking survey in Majiapu of Fengtai District,the survey concludes 7 retail terminal’s retail price and8 kinds of vegetables. Moreover, we get a detailed cost calculating of 4 retail terminals.Lastly, through the decomposition of the established cost accounting system for each vegetable retail terminal, the real level of price difference can be got and investigated.From the trend and constitution of wholesale and retail price difference, the wholesale and retail price difference remain the same, also remains the diversity. The purchase cost is the most important expenses of the retail price, labor costs, the daily loss and packaging costs constitute the significant factor of the wholesale and retail price difference.From the accounting profit, the sudden huge profit does not exist in vegetable retail terminal, its operating profit only can be regarded as a painful compensation for vegetable retailers’ overload work.
