Joined WTO, the market competition in China became more intense. In order to win the market and stand in the forefront, enterprises have to develop new products constantly and introduce them into the market to maintain the competitiveness and win customers, in addition to maintaining existing products. New product introduction (NPI) project is the only way to bring the new product into market, so it is with high practical significance to explore improvement opportunities.This thesis will state the current situation of NPI project management in S company, one of the world leading enterprises in the low-voltage electrical industry, and summarized four categories of existing problems. These problems caused negative effects, such as:missed market opportunity due to the delay of launch after product was developed; decrease of customer satisfaction due to low quality level; extended investment return period induced by project budget out of control. All those effects will impact the new product competition in the market. Analyzed each key stage and found the failure causes.To solve those problems in NPI, this thesis will use Six Sigma methodology to study the NPI as a special process. By comparing Six Sigma DMAIC with the S company NPI process:OSDDVC. Rebuilt the key stages in S company NPI project, the OSD (DMAD)DVC new model is established. In this new model, the recommended supporting tools for each stage are introduced, which will used to eliminate the causes of problems, so that the 4 categories of problems could be prevented. With the new model and supporting tools, the quality of deliverables form each stage can be assured so that the final quality of this project can be ensured.The detailed approach on how to implement the new model will be explained by’F product NPI project’in S company. The Six Sigma management methodology does not only help on the prevention of problems but also can greatly reduce F product project cycle time and also helps on the assurance of a high-quality product, which become a strong support for the company strategy.The studies proved that Sig Sigma management can bring huge positive effects to improve the management level of company NPI project and ensure the high quality product can be introduced to the market in the shortest time. The management concept and methodology used in this thesis also have reference and directive values for other manufacturing company’s NPI projects.
