The global electricity demand is on a rise each next day including Pakistan, which faces an intensive shortage to fulfill high rate of this emerging consumer demand. Global growth of energy demand is due to large scale of industrial expansion and extensive economic development, this is the reason behind an increased concern about sustainable development and future energy demand. It is fact that energy consumption is reportedly higher in countries where less than 5 percent of the population lives below the poverty line than it is in countries where most people live in poverty, which means electricity is a main pillar to sustainable economic growth.This study will focus on Sino-Pak civil nuclear cooperation impact on Pakistan economy. This study will give scenario of current power generation technological crises and its influence to Pakistan economy. This study will also give a bird eye view of China power sector and then come up with some suggestions that can enhance Pakistan power generation capability.Entire thesis is consisting of nine overlapping parts, which builds the reader’s understanding from the scratch to the current situation as well as potential solutions.First part introduces the background information of this study, literature review, the content and structure, the method and the innovation of the study. Through the analysis of the current and previous civil nuclear cooperation of the two countries i.e. China and Pakistan, in context of an accumulated study approach for research of numerous scholars, this thesis holds its utmost importance as an information source of the power sector field. One of the major objectives of this thesis is to provide suggestion for the betterment of an on-going cooperation.Second part focuses on the definition and basic theory of International Cooperation. It introduces the theory by different scholars who have conducted research on cooperation between both nations in different aspects. Thus we provided a theory foundation for the following research. This chapter also focuses on the method of analyzing economical impact of this cooperation to Pakistan economy.Third part focuses on Pakistan power sector and current economic conditions, where organizational structure of power sector and power generation technologies is defined. This chapter also give a brief overview of power crises situation and its influence to Pakistan economy, it also discuss the major problems of power sector and analyzes the importance of power generation technologies.Fourth part is a case study of China’s power sector development, where brief introduction of China’s power generation technologies is discussed. This chapter also focus on the problems that China has gone through while it’s economic development. This case study resulted in better suggestions for Pakistan power sector, which can be adopted for positive developments in Pakistan power sector.Fifth part discusses the ongoing and civil nuclear cooperation between China and Pakistan. In this chapter the objectives, background, further cooperation and benefits of cooperation are discussed.Sixth Part evaluates and analyzes the impact of this cooperation to Pakistan economy through proper econometric modeling.Seventh part focuses on economical and environmental impact of nuclear energy, where relation between economy and environment are discussed. This chapter also discusses the economical and environmental effects of Fukushima NPP incident.Eight part is about opinion and suggestions that has come up through analyzing the facts in this thesis.Ninth part is the conclusion and prospective of the thesis. It summarize the content of the thesis and point out the future research directions.
