For a long time, IBM Mainframes are extensively used in finance, aviation, insurance, government and manufacturing. In the domestic, Enormous talent gap exist in these industries. In addition, in recent years, numerous mainframe software development services transferred to the domestic, this made the already scarce talent market more difficult. Universities are supposed to provide sufficient qualified talents, but the reality is the opposite. Until 1998, IBM Mainframes were first introduced to domestic universities. But, up to now, less than 20 universities opened Mainframe courses. Additionally, for lack of Mainframe resources and teaching staffs, the number and quality of students are not ideal.Several reasons made this result. First, lack of Mainframe resources, result in several universities share one Mainframe, limited teaching autonomy. Second, teaching staffs do not possess rich theoretical and practical experiences. At last, also the most important, lack of practical experiment platform, Bare Mainframe system and theory cannot achieve the combination of theory and practice.This thesis is targeted to solve the problem of lacking experimental and research platform, to develop a simulated banking system under IBM Mainframe. This platform is the basis for other business systems. It contains teller management, transaction management, massive data, and so forth. Personal business is built on top of it, massive data used to test functionality and performance.This thesis combines Mainframe theories with practical businesses, creates a simulation banking system based on IBM Z900, using COBOL, DB2, CICS, JCL, Mainframe assembly, etc. This system consists of basic platform, part of business module and massive test data. It combines with actual businesses, will solve the problem that domestic universities lack of practice and research platform in IBM Mainframe. From the academic side, using this platform, undergraduates could combine theoretical knowledge with practical businesses, break the limits of bare theory. Higher level students and teaching staffs could do deeper research, avoid duplicate development. To training institutions, it can exclude the defects of simulated Mainframe environment. From the production side, it could be used to validate new ideas, test new products by Mainframe software companies. At last, massive data provide guarantee for research of real-world production system.The innovations of this research are as follow. First, builds basic platform for a banking system, other business system could be implemented on this basis, no other system did this on Mainframe before. Second, provides methods to generate massive data, test functionality and performance, which could ensure reliability of system. Third, all documents and source codes are open source, readers could study by these materials.
