Study On Make To Order Model Prodution Planning

Currently the competition among manufacturing enterprises are more and more focused on cost optimization due to the advancement of production technology and similar product quality, most manufacturing enterprises, specially the enterprises who are mostly focused on satisfying customer special requirements, are trying their best to lower down the production cost. The production planning issue, which is closely related to production cost, is becoming a new issue and needs to be solved urgently.This thesis is mainly focused on the production planning optimization, using Company X as the study case. It first analyzes the company’s current production planning status, and studies the factors affecting planning optimization, such as ERP system limitation, sales forecast inaccuracy, the conflict between production planning and raw material stock, etc.After that, it proposes the basic requirements for Company X’s production planning optimization program, studies the affecting factors theoretically combining with the company’s actual situation, proposes the optimized system program, approaches to increase the sales forecast accuracy, and also brings in the safety stock management concept. The program for Company X’s production planning optimization is implemented as optimizing ERP system, improving sales forecast accuracy and setting safety stock for high demand product types to satisfy the urgent lead time orders demand. Then it provides basic ideas on how to effectively collect and manage data.According to the above description and optimization concept, we make the trial run in Plant Z of Company X. This research first summarizes the actual sales forecast of Plant Z for June 2013,then makes the assessment and adjustment on the forecast, points out the important factors that need to be focused on when making the planning, calculates the safety stock for high demand types, and at last makes the production planning and puts it into execution. This thesis also summarizes the execution situation and indicates the advantages and disadvantages of the improvement program, and gives the future study direction.This thesis combines theory with practice to analyze and diagnose Company X’s current status, discusses the affecting factors for production planning and its optimization direction, and discovers the way of pushing the cost optimization by internal flow optimization for big manufacturing enterprises.
