Gansu province is located in the northwest in our country,compared with the eastern provinces relatively backward economy, people’s living level is low. In recent years, although the level of industrial structure and urbanization of gansu province is improved and the enhancement, but compared with the rest of the country still lags behind most of the region. Since the 21 st century, urbanization development have become a topic of China’s economic development. A large number of foreign scholars and domestic scholars do a thorough discussion and study for the relationship between urbanization and industrial structure. In this paper, based on the theory of predecessors’ research, taking gansu province as an example, the main research on optimize the industrial structure of gansu province at the same time, how to promote the development of urbanization in gansu province, so as to promote the comprehensive development of economy in gansu province. This article research, to promote the economic development of gansu province, how to swing the plight of the current economic development in gansu province, to improve people’s living standard has far-reaching significance.Based on the industrial structure and urbanization development and other related theory as the foundation, By adopting the method of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis method combining the changes in the industrial structure of gansu province and the present situation of the urbanization, on this basis, to select the leading industry in the current situation of the existing industry in gansu province,considering the choice of leading industry in gansu province, added some affecting the process of urbanization indicators, the indicators of set purpose of optimizing the industrial structure of gansu province is mainly based on at the same time, which can improve the level of urbanization in gansu province, which is the innovation of thisarticle. In this paper, first of all, using the general statistical analysis method to industrial structure present situation, analyzing the present situation and problems of urbanization in gansu province; Then, using measurement method, established the regression model of urbanization and industrial structure in gansu province, analyzes the correlation and the industrial structure of gansu province urbanization; Again,using the principal component analysis(pca), with the urbanization in gansu province from the point of view of the leading industry selection, determine the dominant industry group; Finally, on the basis of this puts forward the countermeasures and Suggestions in optimizing the structure of the industry in gansu province.
