The paper has an insight on tea history specifically in the area of Fujian and Jiangxi during Ming and Qing Dynasty. In view of the previous research results in the field,the paper probes further into the transportation route,circulation pattern, market layout,trading situation as well as the domestic and oversea contacts of tea trade industry in the area of Fujian and Jiangxi during Ming and Qing Dynasty.With a long history,Fujian has been one of the most import areas for tea production ever since the Ancient times. Dating back to Tang Dynasty,records concerning tea production in Fujian have been found in the Book of Tea written by Luyu,who was an expert on tea at that time. Till the time of Ming Dynasty,tea production in Fujian had taken up more than half of the total amount in the country. With entering into the Qing Dynasty,while continuing to maintain as the main area of tea production, Fujian expanded the major tea planting region from northern part to southern and eastern part as well. Especially after the Opium War,tea had been exported in quantity. As a result,the tea trade industry promoted the booming of commence in the area of Jiangxi and Fujian Province,which enabled a substantial development in economy,politics and culture within the region. However,the area around the border of Fujian and Jiangxi Province saw a recession after the commercial business in five ports was carried out.Based on the development of tea trade industry on the border of Fujian and Jiangxi Province,combining historical theories and methodology,this paper aims to briefly summarize the commercial communication and regional social change on the border of Fujian and Jiangxi Province in modern times.This paper includes three parts:Part one: A description of the environment and transportation situation on the border area of Fujian and Jiangxi Province by introducing the geographical location as well as the land and waterway distribution.Part two: Chapter three,a demonstration from the tea trade economy perspective on the relationship and impact of tea trade industry on commodity economy development on the border area of Fujian and Jiangxi Province. Part three: Chapter four,a presentation from the perspective of trade route change and regional rise and decline to illustrate the influence on the border area of Fujian and Jiangxi Province due to trade route changes and political reasons.Conclusion: Through the analysis of the influence of the commercial intercourse and regional social change on the border area of Fujian and Jiangxi Province,the paper aims to put forward some enlightenment on the economic zone on the west side of the straits. |
