In2010, China-ASEAN Free Trade Area started officially, tariffs between China and ASEAN is reducing, and a variety of goods can be imported and exported without tariffs.After the completion of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, because of the zero-tariff policy, bilateral trade is growing very fast.Since the comprehensive economic cooperation of China and the ASEAN, the relations between the two areas developed quickly, political trust increases significantly, economic and trade exchanges increases frequently, areas of cooperation expands fast.Data show that China and ASEAN’s total trade volume continued to grow in recent years.Each aspects of the trade structure show different structural changes with the increase of trade volume.The changes of features of trade structures affect the long-term development of China-ASEAN deeply.For the long-term healthy and reasonable development of bilateral trade between China and ASEAN, it raises the requirements for optimizing trade structure.This paper has analyses nearly10years of data of China and ASEAN’s bilateral trade, and finding that, trade structural characters change with the change of trade volume.In the commodity structure, there is a coexistence between competitive and complementary import and export good.The market is relative concentrative, and uneven within ASEAN countries.General trade is the main trade mode, but there is a downward trend, and processing trade is increasing very fast. Trade body is mainly foreign-invested enterprise. The proportion of other enterprise has also increased.The build of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, endowment differences, the speed of economic development, the transfer of global industry and the implement of cross-border RMB settlement business affected the characters of China-ASEAN trade structure in some degree.At the same time, the features of trade structure have positive and negative effects to the trade between China and ASEAN.In order to promote healthy and reasonable development of bilateral trade, we must optimize the trade structure. Upgrading and adjusting the product structure and industrial structure is a prerequisite for optimizing trade structure, Optimizing the trade market, the way, the trade body, the area is an important part of the business restructuring, and developing China and ASEAN’s investment and overseas business.
