China-Asean Members Trade Structure Study

On 6th Nov.2001 leaders of China and ASEAN reached the agreement of to establish China-ASEAN Free Trade Area in ten years in Brunei.The signature of this agreement has significant meaning,which is bound to cause deep effect on economic and trade relations between China and ASEAN. This effect mainly reflects the following aspects,bilateral trade,structure of merchandise,investment,and the adjustment of industry structure.Based on the present situation of China and ASEAN's economic and trade relations,this paper quantitatively analyses the effect of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area on China and ASEAN's economic and trade relations by calculating related data and applying models.And sum that the trade relation between China and ASEAN is not purely transfer from extra-trade to intra-trade. So we find the conclusion that we should carry intra-trade with Singapore,Malaysia and Thailand,carry extra-trade with new ASEAN four countries.This paper contains six sections:1,introduce background of research, study methods and ideas;2,focuses on related economic theories which provide the standard differentiate inter-trade and extra-trade;3,by annual statistics,we are doing lots of calculating and comparing,which lead I gain the use the RCA(Revealed Comparative Advantage)to analyze china and ASEAN actual trade and compare with former performance;4,doing demonstration analyze by NTB(Normalized trade Balassa)and IITij(inter-trade)index for the industry structure and trade structure change;5,by the assistant of practical example to demonstrate statistical analyze;6,propose constructive suggestions in order to achieve reciprocal and two-win relationship for china and ASEAN.
