| It has been ten years from the day the New Rural Cooperative Medical system (NRCMs) piloted and expanded to now. The ten years witnesses how quickly the New Rural Cooperative Medical system develops. In the meantime, the New Rural Cooperative Medical system has a heavy positive impact on poverty alleviation which is caused by disease. However, even though the NRCMs has made such big progress, the current NRCMs can’t meet people’s medical needs which are growing at a high rate with the rapid social and economic development. And while rapid the NRCMs’ development, the urban medical system is developing at a higher rate and becomes better and better. So there still exist a large gap between the medical care systems in the city and in the country. With this background, our research aims at establishing a scientific framework and quantitative analysis for the performance evaluation of NRCMs. And according to the problems existing in the course of system operation and the results of performance evaluation, we make some recommendations to improve the NRCMs, hoping to contribute to its sustainable development. |
