Although the introduction of pumped-storage power plants in China was late, the industry boomed. Especially in the last decade, construction of large-scale pumped-storage power plants expanded rapidly in China. More than ten ones were constructed, including Beijing Shisanling Pumped-Storage Power Plant. Nowadays, the total capacity of pumped hydroelectric storage in China is more than 10 million kilowatts. Numbers of large-scale pumped storage units were put into operation, having single-machine capacity over 200,000 kilowatts for each, which played a very important role in ensuring the security and stability of power grid.It is necessary to further study the project management procedure of the maintenance of 200MW pumped-storage power station unit in order to improve the management of power plant maintenance projects, since certain numbers of large-scale pumped-storage units entered the period of maintenance. Based on this background, this paper optimize and guide unit maintenance project management, and to provide reference for the same type of large-scale pump-storage plant maintenance.This paper design a workflow of maintenance management. For schedule management, this work developed the construction progress charts and network diagrams to plan the schedule, and used progress tracking and deviation analysis to control the schedule during the construction period. For quality management, The application of PDCA theory was introduced to improve the quality. The statistics of the reasons that impact them quality was studied and the suggestion of the improvement of the main factors was made, the management methods of quality control point was introduced, and quality management structure of the hierarchical management structure was established. For security management, this study analyzed the unsafe factors from human, equipment and environment and introduced the safe management method. Also, an evaluation indicator system for maintenance of power plant was introduced. Based on the case study of the maintenance of Shisanling Pump-Storage Power Plant in 2013 and 2014, this paper also evaluated the result of the project management of power plant unit maintenance. The theoretical research of maintenance management in this paper will help standardize the procedure of pumped storage power station unit maintenance work and improve the overall level of management of the maintenance of pumped storage power stations.
