With the rapid development of modern information and science technology, the "Smart Planet" concept came into being, and the "Smart City" as a new guide for urban development has attracted an attention from the world. As is known, our country is a big manufacturing country in the world, but China’s manufacturing industry is faced with such serious problems as: being big but not strong, the product quality is not high, lack of innovative capacity, and so on. Manufacturing companies have realized that the process of smart construction is an important part of "Smart City". Furthermore, it is the key for manufacturing enterprises to achieve a comprehensive upgrade and enhance international competitiveness.Manufacturing business’ s smart construction is to realize the highly integration between informatization and industrialization, and it is a way to use the mobile Internet, cloud computing, big data, networking and other advanced technology to build the smart innovation network, smart manufacturing network and the smart management network of manufacturing companies. This paper defines the related concepts of the manufacturing companies’ smart construction process.The features of smart construction include: environmentally friendly, convenient, comprehensive sensing, self-integration and self-innovative. By the study and research on the current situation of manufacturing enterprise, I made further analysis of the necessity of the manufacturing business’ s smart construction, and clearly defined the tasks and goals of it. Meanwhile, this paper established an overall framework for manufacturing enterprise’s smart construction, from fundamental infrastructure to top intelligence application with specific four layers, which includes: support platform layer, network transport layer, manufacturing perception layer, and intelligence application layer. In terms of the paths, the process of manufacturing company’s smart construction can be divided into three stages, including initial stage, development stage and maturity stage. Through the smart construction of manufacturing company, it can ultimately achieve smart manufacturing, smart management, smart service and smart innovation. From the perspective of awareness level, co-ordination efforts, technical support system, and personnel security, this paper analyzes the problems and bottlenecks of manufacturing company’s smart construction process. Finally, this paper will give some targeted countermeasures and suggestions against the existing problems.Smart construction of manufacturing business is a new subject, most of the manufacturers in China have not yet carried out the smart construction, and even some ongoing smart construction of manufacturing enterprises is still just in its infancy. This paper provides many ideas and applicable paths for the manufacturing enterprise’s smart construction, and I do hope this research can provide a useful reference for the smart construction of China’s manufacturing business.
