Innovation has been the core concern of entrepreneurs at home or abroadbecause of its contribution to improving business performance. From the internal andexternal features, this paper selects some Chinese and foreign companies based onthe type of ownership for enterprise screening as samples to study the empiricalresearch aspects of ownership, internal staff, capital and industry characteristics andother factors that influence innovation performance, compared to analyze thedifferences between Chinese and foreign enterprises innovation factors, andproposes targeted policy recommendations.Firstly, this paper analyzes and summarizes the relevant literature on innovationperformance factors, with emphasis on the analysis of the influence of the type ofownership, in order to find the starting point of this paper and the research direction.Secondly theoretical innovation influencing factors are discussed, with theprincipal-agent theory, property rights theory, competition theory, represented bycommentary on these theories, trying to analyze the main factors that influence thediscussion to improve their innovation performance. Next this paper introduces thebasic situation of Chinese and foreign enterprises’ currently innovations to the majordeveloped from the descriptive point of view, then dose comparative analysis of thecurrent situation of Chinese and foreign enterprises to develop innovation activities,differences in patent cases and enterprise application environment for innovationexist, with the empirical analysis done for the next theoretical basis. Based on the previous qualitative analysis of several chapters, empirical part selects2004-2013,Forbes listed foreign and domestic companies as data sources, gathering thenumber of patent applications as a dependent variable, select13factors, such as typeof ownership factors, human and financial factors, international level, industrycharacteristics as independent variables. And constructed two empirical models totest and compare the differences of factors affecting domestic and foreignenterprises’ innovate performance.The empirical results obtained are: for the empirical analysis of Chineseenterprises, the ownership, firm size, industry characteristics, corporate employmentnumbers, corporate R&D investment, board structure of the enterprise has asignificant positive effect on innovation performance; Ownership concentration,leadership structure, board size factors affecting innovation performance issignificantly negative; Firm age, the degree of internationalization, debt ratio, salesgrowth factors on the innovation performance is not significant. In the empiricalanalysis of foreign companies, the firm age, firm size, industry characteristics,corporate employment numbers, corporate R&D investment, board structure, boardsize factors for innovation performance has a significantly positive effect;Internationalization degree and ownership concentration for innovation performancehas a significantly negative effect; enterprise ownership, leadership structure, salesgrowth, corporate age factor had no significant impact on corporate innovation. |
