In the era of knowledge economy, knowledge has become a kind of important scarce resource. Modern enterprise must enhance their core competitiveness in order to keep sustainable competitive advantage and this requires proper management of the members and knowledge in teams. As most knowledge existing in teams is tacit knowledge, how to promote knowledge communication among team members is very important to team performance and team construction.With the development of computational organization theory, it is convenient to adopt quantitative method to study team knowledge management dynamically with computer tools instead of empirical study. Agent is one of the most popular methods to achieve this. But agents are often considered as the result of probability in the existing research. The properties and inner behavior mechanism of agent are also not analyzed in depth.Based on the theories of literature and the real world, this study uses agent and analyze agent in depth in order to explore its internal motivation. Then, agent’s interactions emerge team knowledge system which is a kind of complex adaptive system. Further, management practice is discussed according to computational experiments.The main contents of this study are as follows.(1) Integrating the related literature reviews of team knowledge management. This study discusses the importance of knowledge communication among team members based on the theories of knowledge management and team construction. Then this study points out that team knowledge system is a kind of complex adaptive system which should be studied through computational experiments.(2) Combining with agent theories, this study builds a model of team knowledge system with bottom-up method. First, attributes of one agent are defined. Then adaptive interaction rules of agent are presented. Finally, how to study the team which is emerged from the interactions of agents is discussed.(3) Based on the model above, the study designs, builds and tests the computational experiment system.(4) According to the related theories of computational experiments, the study explores how to make full use of knowledge communication to construct teams. Through the comprehensive uses of quantitative and qualitative methods, such as data analysis, visualization and so on, the study offers a series of computational experimental cases and research methods on the building, operation and evaluation of teams.
