In the1990s,the famous American quality management expert Dr Juran had proposed"the21st century is the century of quality". For an enterprise, the quality is the fundamental of survivaland development. The continuous improvement of quality management is one of the most effectivemethods of an enterprise to sustainable development. Since the Reform and Opening-up of the lastcentury, the theory of total quality management to promote and try out in the iron and steelenterprises in China, made a positive contribution to the quality management of enterprise. However,due to the differences in iron and steel enterprises at all levels of technology and management,theeffects produced are different in the process of implementing the total quality management,there aresome problems to be solved.In this paper, based on a review of the quality management theory, analyze the present situationof quality management of Chinese iron and steel enterprises, lead to the study of qualitymanagement system of the case company--XX pipes company. Through the use of the total qualitymanagement theory, the existential problems of XX pipes company are analyzed in qualitymanagement and the six sigma management is introduced into the quality management of XX pipescompany, the cement mortar stirring process was improved by DMAIC five steps method. Throughthe implementation of six sigma management to the project case, verify the validity andadvancement of application of Six Sigma management in the iron and steel manufacturingenterprises on the similar quality management basis. Finally, combining the problem which theresearch found, discusses the improvement and innovation of the quality management system andXX pipes company.
