The80’s Generation refers to those who were born in1980’s. Recently they are either facing graduation, or have already started working. As the mainstream of current workforce, they have caused high attention from management layer in enterprises.The Third Plenary Session of the11th CPC Central Committee which was held at the end of1978, started China’s reformation and opening. The socio-economic development, social reformations and other factors made the80’s generation meet the market economy when they were born, understand the internationalization when they grow up and use Internet when they communicate. So under special historical background, this group shows unique personalities, which is quite different from their elder generation. At the same time, they also show different character traits and work values in the work which is different from staff of other generations.The purpose of this study on character traits is to know the personality of the80’s generation better, to analyze their psychological needs, and then introduced the strategy of appreciation in management——It is a management way which is developed from the basis of recognition of differences and respect for differences. It is the base to help employees to gain the sense of self-value and to develop self-esteem, self-confident and therefore to improve the level of modern human resource management, and to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises.Firstly, the author adopted a way of document analysis combined with questionnaires, stated the character traits of the80’s generation employees and the reasons for the formation, analyzed their work values, extracted their desire factors to be appreciated, and then presented the necessity of the strategy of appreciation in management.Secondly, the author stated the relevant theories of appreciation in management. The core of appreciation is to see everyone’s progress. Managers should appreciate their employees, which will not only inspire the enthusiasm of the staff, but also make every member of the company learn to appreciate through their own personal advocacy,words and deeds. Therefore appreciation can integrate into every aspect of the operation of the company and develop the company’s intrinsic appreciation culture.Finally, the author studied specific implementation way of appreciation in management. Managers should change their thoughts, establish scientific talent management strategy, arrange the work reasonably according to the situation of the company and employees’ personality traits and plan the staffing according to the complementation of their characters. Company managers should create a kind of atmosphere which can make employees’ character grow healthily, form tolerant, harmonious, collaborative relationships in the company, reduce the unnecessary costs brought by interpersonal tensions, and then improve efficiency, economic efficiency and core competitiveness.
