The Ministry of Labor and Social Security disclosed the list of management organizations of enterprise annuity fund successively in August,2005and November,2007. There were61financial institutions on the list, including insurance companies, commercial banks, fund management companies, trust companies, security companies and capital management companies. Regulations on Enterprise Annuity Fund enacted in May,2011further defined the duty of fund consignee, trustee, account manager and investment manager in the market of enterprise annuity, which has boosted the development of this market. The accumulative scale of enterprise annuity fund in China has kept growing and to500billion RMB up to the first quarter of2013. So what’s the significance for commercial banks to conduct enterprise annuity business in the market with a great potential and a huge profit where a large number of financial institutions abounds? What are their strengths and weaknesses in the competition? What’s the role of commercial banks in the enterprise annuity market? What development strategies shall they take to occupy an advantageous position in this market? As the research topics of this paper, they are also important issues that shall be studied and solved by commercial banks to develop their enterprise annuity business.From the unique perspective of commercial bank, we introduced the definition, connotation and features of its enterprise annuity business, analyzed the connotation and nature of enterprise annuity in China, and specified the significance and necessity for commercial bank to conduct enterprise annuity business. Then the paper focused on the analysis of the development of enterprise annuity business of commercial bank, advantages and disadvantages of commercial bank and its major rivals. Based on the above analysis and profound comparative research, we have figured out the best positioning for the role of commercial bank. Finally, against such positioning, we have put forward some targeted and instructive advices for commercial bank to develop its enterprise annuity business.The major conclusions of this thesis are:(1) fund trustee and account manager are the most suitable roles for commercial bank, consignee is the leading role that commercial bank shall word hard to play, and investment manager is the supporting role that commercial bank shall play after a great development.(2) commercial bank plays well the central role of enterprise annuity consignee as the one with the most consignee qualifications and the most share in the market will perform better in the market of investment manager.But compared with commercial bank with the same strong ability of legal person consignment, insurance company has outshined other rivals in the consignee market with a share of over70%, and has been on an equal footing with the fund management company known as "the best investment manager" thanks to its edge in the consignee market.(3) insurance company is both the biggest competitor and the best cooperator of commercial bank in the enterprise annuity market. For commercial banks, a growing strategic cooperation partnership, alliance, supplementation and resource exchange with insurance companies is beneficial to the increase of their comprehensive competitiveness, the expansion of their enterprise annuity businesses and the breakthrough of their role as enterprise annuity consignee and investment manager.
