The Impact Analysis Of Urbanization To Environment Quality

In recent years, the urbanization process of China has developed rapidly, however, extensive develop model has led to a range of issues, such as land abuse, unreasonable spatial arrangement, imbalance between urban and rural areas and defective institutional mechanisms. It also did a lot of damage to environment quality at the same time. Therefore, the government put forward strategies for the new-type urbanization.This article focuses on the new-type urbanization and environment quality.According to environmental economics, urban ecology theory, urban development theory and resource environmental bearing capacity theory, this article theoretically analyzed the relationship between the new-type urbanization and environment quality. Excessive population aggregation and massive land development during urbanization have a negative effect on environment quality, while technical progress and public environmental awareness enhance have a positive one. This article analyzed China’s urban development statusand environment status, and deeply researched into new-type urbanization’s intension. After that, this paper constructed a comprehensive evaluation indicator system of the new pattern urbanization from the angle of basic capacity, competitive ability, humanistic quality, social insurance and urban-rural integration as well as an evaluation indicator system for environment quality based on PSR model. On this basis, this paper calculated a synthesis new urbanization score and environment quality score for each city by using factor analysis and examining the relationship between urbanization and environment pollutionthrough extended STIRPAT model based onpanel data of285cities from2004to2014in China. The following are final empirical conclusions:The new pattern urbanization levelof China is improving steadily and continually, the urbanization process is much faster in eastern China than that of western China, all cities in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone and Pearl River Delta Region rank high in Chinese cities. According to the empirical study, most cities’ chief factors fraction varies, most cities themselves developed unevenly during the urbanization process.The new pattern urbanization hasa certain negative effect on environment pollution.The empirical study shows that the negative effect of land abuse, population overcrowding and extensive economic development is much bigger than the positive effect of technological advance and eco-awareness improvement. Whether in whole China or from the separate view of eastern China, middle China or western China,the improvement of urbanization level will decrease environment quality. What’s more, as eastern China has went through a rapid and low-quality development process, the impact of urbanization to environment quality is much stronger than that of other areas in China.
