| Bananas are one of the largest fruit in the world fruit trade volume and consumption quantity, and it was positioned as the fourth largest food crop in developing countries by the UN Food and Agriculture (FAO). According to the FAO latest statistics, the total banana harvested area was5.08million hectares in2013. And according to the FAO latest statistics, China’s banana export volume was19.67million tons, and the import and export trade amounted to$23.368billion. China is not only the world’s second largest banana producer, and it is the world’s main consumer of bananas as well. Banana industry has become China southern subtropical agricultural pillar industry, which plays an important role in tropical and rural economic and social development. In the context of global economic integration and trade liberalization, the world’s banana trade patterns has changed a lot, which brought some special impact on the Chinese banana market.Chinese banana imports continued to grow in recent years, but the export volume has continued to decline, I believe that it was caused by the external environmental factors and internal environmental factors. This study focuses on understanding the impact of changes in the world banana trade patterns brought to China banana market, states and the international banana market, the degree of association of the banana market, which had great practical significance in the China’s banana industry upgrading and enhance Chinese bananas’international competitiveness.Combined with literature and field interviews, this paper reviews the development present situation and development trend of world banana trade patterns; Secondly, summarizes the main characteristics of world banana trade patterns and the main influence on Chinese banana trade which come from changing of world banana trade patterns; Thirdly, the thesis uses Grange causality tests to study on the international and domestic prices; Fourthly, the thesis uses questionnaire method to research the effects of World Banana Trade Pattern changes to production and consumer behavior in Chinese banana market; Fifth,the thesis uses factor analysis to study on the factors influencing consumers’ preference of banana in China under the existing world banana trade patterns.The sixth chapter is the conclusion of this article, puts forward the countermeasures for sustain able development of China banana industry. Main points:Chinese banana industry should fundamentally improving the quality of domestic banana; Enhance the management level of small and medium banana growing enterprise; Shorten the logistics links in order to improve the domestic and international competitiveness; Chinese banana industry personnel and government departments should formulate banana brand strategic planning. |
